Westlake Akishima recently organized an annual fire drill to ensure the safety of our employees at our Higashimatsuyama plant.
The drill scenario was based on a fire in the drum-filling machine at Reactor 2. Our employees were trained to react quickly and exit safely following their assignment which included contacting the fire department, closing emergency valves, and checking the evacuation of all on-site staff at the evacuation area.
The drill included a demonstration on the proper use of large extinguishers (50L) and training on the use of portable water fire extinguishers. Our employees were also reminded of the location of all extinguishers on site.
We believe that evacuation drills are an essential part of emergency preparedness, as they ensure that everyone is familiar with Westlake’s procedures.
